Revit Tips and Tricks - Re-arrange a Ribbon Tab

One of the questions I get somewhat frequently is about re-arranging the Ribbon tabs. Yes, you can re-arrange the tabs on the ribbon by holding down the CTRL key and then dragging the desired Tab to a new location.

When exporting data from Revit to Navisworks, sometimes parameter data may not appear. For example, Figure 1 shows a pipe create in Revit along with a sampling of some of the parameters associated with the pipe. In a previous post, I discussed the process of connecting a external data source (Excel) with a Navisworks model. In this post, we will connect an MS Access database with a Navisworks model. As before, I’ll walk you thru how to setup the database link. For this demo, I am going to use the Gatehouse sample file that ships with Navisworks 2016. We will then be configuring the database connection. When working with the DataTools in Navisworks, there are a few very important rules to keep in mind. Workset Visibility in Revit 2011 From Inside the System Has this ever happened to you? "Frankly, I’m annoyed by having to turn on my workset every time I create a new view. " When a workset is created, there is an option to make it not visible by default. If you've run into the scenario above, this box was unchecked when the workset was created. One work-around is to create a new workset that is 'Visible in all views', and then delete the original workset. When you delete a workset that contains elements, you have to option to move those elements to another workset, so you can move them to the newly created workset. However, be aware that when you do this, those elements may be visible in views where they weren't previously visible (assuming their category is visible in those views).
